Ayub Khan Din (born 1961 in Salford, Lancashire) is a British Pakistani actor perhaps best known for his role of Sammy in Hanif Kureishi's film ''Sammy and Rosie Get Laid'' in (1987) and as the writer of the BAFTA, BIFA and London Film Critics Circle award winning film East Is East based on the original 1996 play that was nominated for an Olivier Award in 1998. In 2008 his new comedy play Rafta, Rafta... won the Olivier Award that year. He also wrote sequel film West Is West released in 2010. ==Early life== Khan din was born to a Pakistani father and English mother and lived in a Salford upon leaving school he studied drama first at the Salford College of Technology when he completed his course in 1982 he then left to study acting at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, London graduating in 1984. He then went on to pursue a caeer in acting initially in Theatre.
